Always sign an agreement with your tradesperson

Always sign an agreement with your tradesperson

Write proper agreements with your tradesperson before the work starts. Detailed written agreements are the best insurance you can get before a renovation.

Do not be one of all the thousands who contact the General Complaints Board every year in a desperate attempt to get everything in order that went wrong during the renovation. The tip is to prepare well and familiarise yourself with what to do.

Many clients are a bit naive and have embarked on projects without thinking properly first.

Think about this

Time and ice in the stomach are the best advice you can give before a renovation, something that many unfortunately miss. Instead, you are easily seduced by the golden triangle, good-cheap-fast, and start a renovation project between your thumb and forefinger. In  tradespeople, tradesperson  to mindfulness, detailed and written agreements are the best lifeline you can get.

There are ready-made templates to use.

When you hire a tradesperson or contractor to have a service performed, you have by law a consumer protection through the Consumer Services Act. Via the link below, you will find, among other things, the Craftsman form, which is suitable when you as an individual consumer are a customer of repair or conversion work.

The agreement between you and the tradesperson should be in writing.

The tradesperson form consists of a fill-in form and the general regulations. It includes information about the parties involved, scope of work, price, payment times, start and end times, warranty. Any recommendations from the tradesperson can also be documented here.
