Always sign an agreement with your tradesperson

Write proper agreements with your tradesperson before the work starts. Detailed written agreements are the best insurance you can get before a renovation.

When you hire a tradesperson or contractor to have a service performed, you have by law a consumer protection through the Consumer Services Act. The agreement between you and the tradesperson should be in writing.

The tradesperson form consists of a fill-in form and the general regulations. It includes information about the parties involved, scope of work, price, payment times, start and end times, warranty. Any recommendations from the tradesperson can also be documented here.
